Patient Safety - Prevent the most devastating risk of laparoscopic surgery

About
Sentire's Bowel Perforation Detection System can prevent one of the most devastating and costly risks of laparoscopic procedures, which include hysterectomy, prostatectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) and many other abdominal surgeries. There are more than 5 million laparoscopic surgeries performed annually in the US and Europe. The average cost to care for a patient who has suffered a bowel perforation if not visualized at the time of the initial surgery is in excess of $100,000. Many patients with undetected perforations require a colostomy and then reversal of the colostomy, as well as other corrective treatments/procedures and are subject to other long term risks should they survive the undetected perforation. The cost to repair a bowel perforation at the time of the injury is insignificant by comparison. In the United States the mortality rate from unobserved bowel perforation leading to sepsis exceeds 2,500 patients per year.
