Muse is a New York based startup launched by an ex-Amazon and Harvard alumnus. Our mission is to transform the phone lock screen into a tool of discovery and inspiration. The Muse app features a different painting on the lock screen every time a person accesses his phone. Our growing collection comprises over 100,000 paintings by both old masters and the best contemporary artists. We partnered with over 80 art galleries and institutions to bring the best content to the users' lock screens. The Muse Recommendation Engine selects the best paintings for each user using a proprietary item-to-item collaborative filtering algorithm. Unlike traditional collaborative filtering, our algorithm’s online computation scales independently of the number of users and number of items in the database. The Muse iOS App enables our iOS fans to enjoy our database on their phones. The Muse Publishing Tool enables artists and art institutions to publish on the lock screen and reach new audiences.
