MAKOKO produces beautiful, contemporary day-to-evening tribal apparel, by employing African artisans at fair-trade and ethical production standards, thus filling the existing market gaps in ethical and tribal fashion- providing an authentic and sustainable connection to African women and communities. MAKOKO is a clothing brand of authentically - sourced, ethically - produced African-inspired women’s wear. We are a social enterprise, sourcing from and paying fair-trade wages to Ghanaian women for fashion production. We offer our artisans company equity and a percentage of sales are donated to African women for micro-credit loans to start their own businesses. We aim to be branded within “tribal”, or African-inspired fashion, while connecting our customer to African culture through our products, e-commerce sales platform and online community of curated content.
