We all know someone, a friend or family member that has been arrested or charged and as a result might have led to a conviction. Unfortunately, there is a stigma attached to any person applying for a job with a criminal record. Requesting applicants to disclose on a application charges and arrests that never led to convictions, unfairly sets them up for predisposed judgment by the employer. The mission of Look Past Jobs is to bring together individuals that have criminal records and employers that will consider all candidates fairly based ONLY on charges that led to actual convictions. If an individual is charged and it never led to a conviction, this charge still shown on their background check. While that person has been cleared by the justice system the charge has not been cleared from their record. When they seek employment a charge that was cleared is still divulged which is completely unjust. The system is flawed and LPJ is a proper and fair way to consider candidates.
