About
In the startup world "ideas are worthless". But the bar (in terms of required traction) keeps rising, and angels, VCs and most crowdfunding platforms now expect founders to raise up to $250K from friends and family (see ACA 2014 presentation) in order to achieve some level of traction prior to raising an angel or VC seed round. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to friends and family capital, and as a result, only a small minority (the proverbial 1%) of founders today have access to the pre-launch capital required to build their ideas to be worth something. We democratize access to pre-seed capital, and we're targeting hackers working on interesting and mission driven startups that both have a chance to change the world, but also to become huge businesses. We do this by building a community of peers/hackers around a founder's idea, and offering a subscription funding model (100 investors * $100 monthly commitment * 12 months = $120K pre-seed equity capital).
