Gems of the Caribbean

Inexpensive and effective marketing of the Caribbean's authentic tourism products

About

The primary products which will be marketed are “Gems” of the Caribbean.” These products will comprise hospitality products and cultural and heritage assets with a rustic feel, owned and managed by indigenous people in the Caribbean. As a result, the tourism dollar will filter to the nationals who own these cultural and heritage sites and increase occupancy in the locally owned Caribbean hotels, during the slow season. The initial eleven islands selected as “Gems of the Caribbean” include the following: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Turks and Caicos. The report started with an overview of the travel and tourism industry in the Caribbean, followed by a list of strengths and weaknesses analyzed for each of the 11 countries.
