Busker is a business model for the next generation of the music industry. Its platform combines an on-demand streaming service with a direct-to-fan marketplace to create a more profitable way for independent artists and labels to distribute digital music. Instead of licensing their catalog for royalties, artists and labels use select tracks to promote themselves and then sell their full albums direct-to-fan. We let the artist and label keep 100% of sales profits and generate revenue by serving ads in our player. Busker gives listeners a cloud library that automatically collects the free promotional tracks they like and the albums they buy, so that all of their music is synced in one streaming experience. Artists and listeners are connected through a democratic charts system that functions like a Reddit for music, where users can upvote and downvote songs so that the best music rises to the top.
