Before the Cart is developing the Watson mobile app (B. C. Watson) which will store individual consumer preferences and then match them with supermarket products using barcode scanning through camera technology. There are already several apps that provide barcode scanning of products to check against preferences, but none take customer engagement into consideration. This is what makes Watson a Supermarket Hero, and not just an information tool. Assuming a consumer's motivation to be healthy will be enough to get them to use the app every time, was not enough for us. We are incorporating several features that would encourage use every time, for every product considered and ultimately bought. This includes a single scan checkout, order submission, and recipe roulette.
