Alumni associations typically consist of semi-autonomous local groups who maintain a close, yet loosely governed, relationship with the central association. Local groups are lead by volunteers who overwhelmingly specify their biggest hurdle to be the amount of time required to manage their group while the central association staff cite "obtaining accurate information for planning and decision-making” and “reporting/analytics” as their primary obstacles. To address each level of the association, Alumni Spaces offers two product tiers: Ensemble is a templated website platform built to serve the digital needs of local alumni chapters while Symphony is an expanded set of reporting and analysis features built atop a network of Ensemble sites. Symphony is used by alumni associations and their member groups to provide a management and analysis suite for their entire organization while Ensemble aims to dramatically reduce the amount of time required for volunteer leaders to run their group.
